Research Interests

  • One project is currently focused on the regulation of stress-inducible genes in cyanobacteria. We have identified genes and gene products inducible under nutrient (Fe) limitation and oxidative stress conditions.
  • A second project is concerned with examining the protein/protein interactions necessary to mediate the docking of plastocyanin to its reaction partners cyt f and PSI.

Grants

  • National Science Foundation, OCE-9911592. $168,381. "Novel biosensor technology for the determination of iron in aquatic ecosystems." Funded for period 4/1/00 - 3/31/02. Co-PI with R. Michael McKay (PI).
  • National Science Foundation, MUI-0070334. $84,735. "Acquisition of molecular imaging and plate reading systems." Funded for period 06/01/00 - 05/31/01. PI with Drs. R. Michael McKay, Nara Gavini, Michael Geusz and Robert Huber (co-PIs).
